Alexander Wayne Giger
Violinist Alexander Giger is no stranger to variety. Alex has gained international experience as a multi-faceted ensemble musician, playing repertoire from Biber to Golijov. As its second violinist, the Melanson Quartet won the Davey-Posnanski String Quartet Scheme award while Alex earned his Postgraduate degree at the Royal Academy of Music. A Creative and Performing Arts Scholar at the University of Maryland, Alex regularly received honors for chamber music performances, including performances with faculty and with members of the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra. For the past two summers, Alex has performed as a violin fellow with the Lucerne Festival Academy, working with cutting-edge composers and world-class musicians. Alex embraces creativity that stretches conventional definitions of music and ensemble.
In demand in the midweset as an orchestral musician, Alex performs regularly with the Quad Cities Symphony Orchestra, Illinois Symphony Orchestra, Civic Orchestra of Chicago, Peoria Symphony Orchestra, Indianapolis Ballet, and others. |
